Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
At ISS Live Tracker (isstrackerlive.space), the privacy of our visitors is of extreme importance to us. This privacy policy document outlines the types of personal information is received and collected by ISS Live Tracker and how it is used.
Log Files and Local Storage
Like many other Web sites, ISS Live Tracker makes use of standard log files and local browser storage. We use your browser's local storage strictly to save your preferences, such as your dark/light theme choice and your saved coordinates for pass predictions, and the personal sighting log you can keep on the tracker pages. We do not transmit this data to our servers, with one exception: if you choose to turn on pass alerts, described below.
Cookies and Web Beacons
ISS Live Tracker uses cookies to store information about visitors' preferences and to customize Web page content based on visitors browser type or other information that the visitor sends via their browser.
Google AdSense and the DoubleClick DART Cookie
- Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on ISS Live Tracker.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
Third-party ad servers or ad networks use technology to serve the advertisements and links that appear on ISS Live Tracker directly to your browser. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. Other technologies (such as cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons) may also be used by the third-party ad networks to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and / or to personalize the advertising content that you see.
ISS Live Tracker has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.
Pass alerts (optional)
Pass alerts are off unless you turn them on. If you do, your browser creates a push subscription and we store the following on our alert service so that we can notify you before a visible ISS pass:
- Your push address and keys — an anonymous web address and encryption keys issued by your browser's push service (Google, Mozilla, Microsoft or Apple). It does not contain your name or email.
- Your approximate location — the coordinates you use for pass predictions, rounded to about 1 km, so that passes can be calculated for your area.
- Your preferences — how long before a pass to notify you, the minimum pass height, the maximum cloud cover, and your time zone.
This data is stored in a database hosted by Upstash and is used only to send you pass notifications. Notifications are delivered through your browser vendor's push service. To check the cloud-cover forecast for your area, the rounded coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.
We keep it until you turn alerts off, which deletes it immediately, or until your browser's push service reports that the subscription has expired, at which point it is removed automatically. You can also ask us to delete it at any time by emailing afinnafsan@gmail.com. Clearing your browser's site data stops notifications from reaching your device.
